About Us
The Black MBA Association was formed in 1973, and was subsequently changed to the African American MBA Association (AAMBAA) in 1986. The organization was formed to augment the professional, academic, and social development of students of African descent at The Wharton School.
The mission of AAMBAA is to support the continued achievement of students of African descent and to provide extensive resources to foster the successful progression from prospective students to Wharton alumni.
2020 - 2021 Leadership Team

For over four decades, the Wharton African American MBA Association (AAMBAA) has celebrated the legacy of a visionary leader and an avid advocate of equality and economic empowerment for all with the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial conference. We invite prospective MBA students, professionals, alumni, and students of The Wharton School to relive this vision at our annual conference held in the city of Philadelphia.

Corporate Sponsors
With 160 members (~8% of Wharton’s MBA population), AAMBAA is one of the largest groups of
African, African American, and Caribbean students of any business school. Through an extended
family network of thousands – comprised of prospective students, current students, and alumni –
AAMBAA prepares its members for leadership roles in all sectors of society by providing academic
support, professional development, career guidance, and mentorship.
Please contact one of our Sponsorship Co-Chairs if you are interested in learning more about how to become an AAMBAA corporate sponsor:
Everette Richardson (WG'21), Donaven Murray (WG'21), or Brandon Knutson (WG'21).
Prospective Students
AAMBAA represents all students of African descent in the MBA program and supports our members professionally, academically and socially. AAMBAA’s key initiatives include group tutoring, study guides, a career fair, recruiting assistance, and deep connections with corporate sponsors.
AAMBAA works closely with the Wharton MBA Admissions Office to ensure that students of African descent have the resources available to become successful MBA candidates. We do so through active outreach, admissions counseling, and leveraging the expertise of the current MBA membership.
